Salmon Lake Millboard Deck

A multi-level Millboard deck wrapped in frameless glass, set into the trees above Salmon Lake.

The Project

This build called for a complete outdoor living space across multiple levels for dining, lounging, and a fire bowl area, all finished in Millboard Weathered Oak in Ebony Grey. Every board was laid in a herringbone pattern with hidden fasteners, leaving a seamless surface with no visible screws.

The Challenge

Each level of this deck carries its own pattern and orientation. Aligning herringbone decking across changing directions and elevations, while keeping every transition crisp, demanded meticulous layout planning and precision cutting. A single board out of line would echo through the entire pattern.

The Solution

Custom-fabricated Accoya posts with frameless glass inserts keep the forest views open while the railing all but disappears. The hidden fastener system preserves a clean, uninterrupted surface on every level, and each change in pattern was set out deliberately, turning the transitions into a design feature rather than a compromise.
