We Handle the Permits
Port Carling falls under the Township of Muskoka Lakes, with the municipal office right in the village on Bailey Street. Dock work here almost always requires a building permit, and the Township asks for a site plan plus construction drawings showing where the dock sits on the property and how the cribs and stringers are sized. Depending on the property and the water body, further approvals can come into play from the Ministry of Natural Resources, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, the Navigation Protection Program, or Parks Canada. Shoreline lots within 120 metres of the lake can also fall under the Township site plan control by-law, which has to be cleared before any building permit is issued.

In most cases yes.
