Long Lake Deck

A lakeside deck in TimberTech Sea Salt Grey, built over granite boulders and a boathouse roof on Long Lake.

The Project

A lakeside deck on Long Lake, finished in TimberTech Prime+ in Sea Salt Grey with black aluminum railings and glass panels facing the water. The build covered two very different surfaces: rocky shoreline ground on one side, and the flat membrane roof of the boathouse on the other.

The Challenge

The footing locations were full of large boulders, big enough to block digging but not big enough to build on, and the site had no machine access. On the boathouse, the flat roof carried a waterproof membrane that could not be punctured, so conventional fastening for the framing was off the table.

The Solution

We broke the boulders apart with Ecobust, an expansive grout that splits rock without blasting or heavy machinery, and set proper footings where they needed to go. Over the boathouse, the framing was installed without a single penetration through the membrane, protecting the waterproofing while carrying the new decking above it.
