Lake of Bays Crib Dock

A tired crib dock on Lake of Bays, levelled out and given a whole new surface for the seasons ahead.

The Project

The cribs on this Lake of Bays dock still had plenty of life in them, but everything above the water was worn out. We stripped off all the old decking and any worn crib parts, then put down new pressure-treated 2×6 decking and new fascia. New P-style bumpers, mooring cleats and a flip-up dock ladder finished it off.

The Challenge

Over the years the dock had settled out of level, and with the old boards still on there was no telling what the framing underneath looked like. A new surface on a frame that isn’t level would just repeat the problem.

The Solution

With the decking off, we shimmed the joists above the crossers to level and secure the main framing, and repaired and levelled the cribs on the right side. The new decking went down on a flat, solid frame, so the dock sits true and is ready for many more summers on the lake.
